We usually get our favorite things tattooed on us, which makes Snoopy tattoos totally understandable. He's our most beloved character in Peanuts...and just because he doesn't talk doesn't mean he doesn't have a lot to say. Through giggles, cries, body movements, and especially his super cute dance, as these Snoopy tattoos show, he's one of the most relatable characters in the Peanuts strip. Since he first debuted October 4, 1950 he's made an incredible mark on the comic world, becoming almost more recognizable than Charlie Brown himself! Some of these pieces show the remarkable humor and love that Charlie's pet Beagle was endowed with, and we couldn't be happier.
The comic strip Peanuts was illustrated by Charles M. Schulz and ran from October 2, 1950, to February 13, 2000. Although the comic strip continued afterwards through reruns, the total amount of comics is 17,897 strips published in all! Apparently this could make Peanuts the longest story ever told by one human being. But it also speaks to the power of the characters and their stories...that's 50 years of Peanuts! These Snoopy tattoos are also a testament to how loved the Peanuts strip, and the movies and shows that followed. Like, who doesn't watch A Charlie Brown Christmas every year during the holiday season? Even that sad song they sing is iconic.
Snoopy was based on one of Schulz's own childhood pet dogs names Spike. But the character of Snoopy had multiple layers. He is definitely loyal, sweet, and funny...and prone to day dreaming. Perhaps he is best known as using his dog house as a fighter jet with him as pilot! But he's also been the killer college student, Joe Cool and a world renowned author. These Snoopy tattoos show love for a dog who has been close to our hearts for many years. We hope you enjoy them!
