There is no denying that pretty much everything is cuter when shrunken down to the size of a pea. Pigs in tea cups, those weird and somehow completely fascinating videos on Facebook where a giant hand cooks in a teeny tiny kitchen and makes a bite sized meal, and now tattoos. Of course, no one does it better than the underground artists of South Korea, and artist Witty Button Tattoo is really making a name (or pseudonym) for herself. Creating some of the daintiest tattoos we’ve ever seen, Witty Button’s work is absolutely bite sized. Space ships, painterly strokes, and tiny birds — you name it, Witty Button is your gal.
A lot of times, micro-tattoos get some undeserved heat, as there are naysayers out there who “don’t get it” or claim that these fine lined beauties “don’t take any real skill.” Well, we are here to tell you that that is an absolutely false claim. In fact, the beauty in Witty Button’s work is its unique delicacy, one wrong move and that sweet, singing bird could just as easily be turned into a large and craning stork. There is an undeniable grace and skill set that goes into the making of these tiny tattoos. It requires a steady hand and equally steady patience to create. Technicalities aside, Witty Button’s work is simplistic in all the right ways. From the tips of the constellation all the way to the subtle swirling colors in Saturn, the beauty she packs in each of her tiny tattoos is enormous.
Based out of Seoul, South Korea, a place where tattooing is still illegal if not administered by a doctor, Witty Button unfortunately must hide both her shop as well as her actual name. So while we might not know her true identity, not unlike most superheroes, we can still relish in the beauty of her micro tattoos. As we all know, not all heroes wear capes.
