A new teaser trailer has been released for Tom Cruise's newest action/adventure film, The Mummy. The film stars Cruise as Tyler Colt, a man who battles a malevolent ancient queen who rises from the dead to wreak havoc on the modern world.
Umm... I'm sorry didn't we already do this... with a similarly titled movie? Yeah, it starred Brendan Fraser. There was even a spinoff with The Rock in it.
Anyway, looks like the mummy lady has a butt-ton of tattoos on her.
On a more societal note, why are we getting teasers for the trailer? At what point does this just become a ridiculous Russian doll situation? We get a teaser for the teaser for the trailer to the movie. When does it ever end?!
But the presence of this mummy and her very noticeable tattoos led me to question what significance they could play in the film. It's not that uncommon to find mummies that donned body art, but maybe this mummy's tattoos provide her some sort of mystical powers. I don't know, I'm just spitballing here.
This reimagining of The Mummy is a part of the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe, which is set to include The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man, Van Helsing, Frankenstein's monster, and several other classic horror movie monsters.
Not much is known about the film yet, as it is supposed to come out in June 2017, but it's a highly-anticipated flick that is sure to have a huge box office opening. The franchise that used to include Brendan Fraser can only go up from their critically-panned original iteration.
