We're Off to See the Wonderful Wizard of Oz Tattoos

Lions and tigers and bears (and tattoos), oh my!

If you could wish for anything--a brain, heart, courage, or even just to go home--wouldn't you rather have a Wizard of Oz tattoo? This 1939 film, based on L. Frank Baum's children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, is one of the best movies ever made. It has stood the test of time like no other piece of cinema from its era, and has touched the lives of countless individuals. Now, get ready to go over the rainbow, because here are color portraits from what is one of our the most beloved films of all time.

To illustrate how big of an impact this film has had on peoples' lives, from the many that we found, we chose only the best tattoo portraits of the heroine, Dorothy, and the wayward companions, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, and Toto of course, that she makes following the yellow brick road.

We absolutely had to find an excellent portrait of the Wicked Witch of the West for this post, and we may located the best illustration of her ever, thanks to Vic Vivid. We were also very pleased to find a Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, as well as several cool tattoos of winged monkeys.

No Wizard of Oz tattoo post would be complete without a pair of ruby-red slippers. All you have to do is click your heels together three times and say, "There's no place like home," to wake up from any dream, but who would want to, when you can stay in Oz forever with a piece of exquisite body art? We love how Georgina Liliane gave Dorothy tattoos of her own, by the way

We hope you enjoyed getting swept away by these wonderful Wizard of Oz portraits. We know we did. They make us want to go dump a bucket of water on some mean old witch, or at least re-watch the movie. On that note, you should do exactly that and maybe even pick up a copy of Baum's book. It's really good, too.
