In a world of pin up ladies with Barbie girl proportions, Hollie West's curvy creations are a breath of fresh air.
I'm not saying stick-thin pin up ladies are bad, pitting one style with another — totally missing the point. All I'm saying is it's 2016 and it's about damn time to welcome some variety. The world, after all, does not come with a one-size-fits-all category. Hollie West caters to that by adding some spice to her pin up tattoos and giving the staple tattoo some well-needed overhaul.
Not too long ago, I wrote about ‘big boy pin ups’ and how genius they were, wondering where the ‘big girl pin ups’ were. But here they are! Designed by Norwich tattoo artist, Hollie West, thrilled to get more big girl pin up client requests thanks to word of mouth from Instagram.
“I find curvy women so much more fun to draw, they have such a great flow which lends itself to tattoos so well,” She told TH-INK. “Big bums and boobies always come across so cheeky and fun, rather than seedy and overly sexual. They can be super sexy but in an old school pin up way, that would make you have a giggle rather than rubbing your thighs and grunting.”
