Ik wou sinds ik een kind was al een tatoeëerder worden. In 1975 in Amsterdam had ik voor het eerst mijn machine en apparatuur gekocht. Dit was niet makkelijk omdat er toen nog geen internet was om dingen op te zoeken. Ik zag Tattoo Peter voor het eerst in 1969, ik was meteen onder de indruk van de shop. Later heb ik het model overgenomen voor mijn eigen shop. Tattoo Peter was voor mij een inspiratie, in de toekomst werd Peter een goede vriend van me en heeft hij me erg veel geholpen. In 1977 heb ik voor Jack Armstrong in Columbus, Georgia, USA gewerkt. Daarna ook in Papillon bij New Haven en Hartford Connecticut. Ik heb daarna 25 jaar me eigen shop gehad in Deep River Connecticut. Daarna heb ik 2 jaar in California bij Sacred Art en Gearhead gewerkt. Daarna kwam ik terug naar Amsterdam om bij Tattoo Peter te werken. Hier werk ik nu vanaf 2007. Ik kon mij toendertijd niet voorstellen op die regenachtige dag in 1969 toen ik nog 20 jaar oud was, dat ik daar 40 jaar later zou tatoeëren. Mijn stijl is traditioneel western (old school). Dit is wat ik het leukst vind en waar ik het beste in ben.
De dagen dat ik werk zijn: dinsdag, woensdag, vrijdag, zaterdag en zondag.
I had always wanted to be a tattooist, since I was a child. In 1975, in Amsterdam, i obtained (after much effort) my first machines and equipment. It was not easy to do in those pre-internet days. I first saw Tattoo Peter in 1969, and was captivated by the look of the shop, and would later model my own shop to look that way. Tattoo Peter was an inspiration to me and Peter himself became my friend and helped me a great deal in those days. In 1977 I went to work for Jack Armstrong in Columbus, Georgia, USA, and then on to Papillon in both New Haven and Hartford Connecticut. I then opened my own shop in Deep River, Connecticut and was there for about 25 years, followed by 2 years in California at Sacred Art and Gearhead in Chico. I then came full circle, back to Amsterdam to work at Tattoo Peter, where I have been since 2007. I could never have imagined on that rainy day in 1969, 20 years old standing in awe outside of the original Tattoo Peter on the Sint Olafsteeg, that some 40 years in the future I would be a tattooist at that shop! My style is traditional western (old school), it is what I prefer and am best at.
The days that i work are: tuesday, wednesday, friday, saturday and sunday.
