There I was having my first solo trip last summer in Berlin and after searching through the reviews of tattoo studios I found Blackfisk with good feedback and interesting artists. Being excited to get my first tattoo I headed straight to the place where I met Matteo Turcato and he agreed to do it for me. And from an experience point of view it was amazing because what I made has a great significance for me. But from a technical point of view, IT WAS A MUG! I have been charged 180 Euros for it on the premise that "circles are the most difficult shapes to be done in this branch" and I said ok, not knowing much what he was talking about. I ended up with a thick contour line that in some places is thinner then in others and with a very clear meeting point that is out of shape.
I initially asked for a thin line, something close to a stoneish, artefact looking item, but he said it`s gonna fade with time (WHO CARES!? it can always be refreshed!; the point of having something done is to have what you are after, not what`s conveninent for the artist!).
After having the contour done, he offered me some poorly 1-2mm lines coming down perpendicularly from the outside line to the interior and from the interior line to the outside just because I asked to give some depth to the symbol and he said that if I want the engravings I have to pay more..
What`s more, at the end, when we went to the counter to pay, his colleague even told him to maybe charge me 150, but his reply was that we agreed on 180. And that`s okay. We did. ONLY beacuse you saw the eagerness and excitement on my face and because I did not know about tattoo prices, you prick!
