She’s been in and out of hospital since she was 8 years old. This year she went for a pulmonary valve replacement because that valve was leaking and underwent an open heart surgery that lasted 8 hours! “When we saw her the next day she had needles and drips everywhere it was a shocking sight and I remember her saying “dis nie vir sissies nie” and when she finally came home we spoke about her experiences there and the one thing that she kept on saying was that none of us will ever be able to understand the pain she went through and that’s when I thought about getting the tattoo because I’m terrified of needles and she was stabbed with them almost every time she went to hospital.
