The inner right forearm: strength-love-happiness in Sanskrit, dedicated and inspired by Yoga teacher, turned mentor. Things I didn’t possess but maybe 1 day I could. 🙏🏻First session, wip. My version of a Japanese Oni mask as a grasshopper for my client, a chef. He considers himself a lifelong student to his master teacher who has galvanized him on this path. The respect of student and master in the Japanese culture is truly inspiring. I think it is a beautiful thing we miss here in the west. #onimask#artnouveau#japanesetattoo#blackandgreytattoo #younggrasshopper #grasshopper#newschool#neotraditional #animaltattoo#naturetattoo #blackwork #blackworker#freehand #austin #atx #houston #dallas #texas #animals #fineline #fineart #tattoooftheday Right hand dedicated to my mom. Marvin the Martian is my mom’s favorite tune and I remember in elementary school in wood shop class that Marvin the Martian was the hardest thing to make out of the choices the class had, but I made it and both her and the teacher were surprised and I gave it to her for Mother’s Day. That was a special time for us so i used Marvin the Martian to symbolize the bond between My mom and I. Her name is actually SUSAN, but i had to make it SUZN on my fingers, because i have four fingers.

This is a memorial tattoo for my piano teacher that passed away with lung cancer. She gave me 5 white lace butterflies before she died. I wanted one on my skin to remind me of her and the calmness she gave me.My fault for the shotty pic, was taken on a pre-galaxy 1 phone (age-wise that is) Work is by Greg Dickson (Dixon?) Retired artist/art instructor (he 'dislikes being called a teacher, heheh), pro-level stoner, avid ww2 model builder, all around crotchety/cool old guy. Ha, he went with us to Cannabis Cup in Demver '15 and wore a suit each day (I had folks convinced he was a pastor...because I thought it was funny) Forgot to mention he's colorblind af.I got this tattoo in memory of one of my gradeschool teachers who meant a lot to me and made me into the English language/grammar loving person I am today. She helped me through a lot of dark times and I miss her so much. The pink boxing glove represents breast cancer and the gray one represents brain cancer. I have them "nailed" to me because she "hung up her gloves" when she couldn't fight anymore. Her birth and death date are underneath and the writing is a note that she wrote to me in one of my yearbooks in her handwriting. #breastcancer #braincancer #cancer #boxinggloves #teacher #memorial #memorialtattoo #RIP Phantom Ink: Masqueraaaade! Disclaimer: If you have not read or seen the Phantom of the Opera in some form or fashion, then this post will probably be more confusing than interesting. Anyway, here's another blog about ink. Read on if you must. General Inspiration My latest tattoo was inspired by Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. In 1986, Andrew Lloyd Webber blessed the world with his broadway musical version of the Gaston Leroux novel about the scary man with a mask - who happens to be a genius of music, engineering, and other stuff - running about the Opera Populaire, scaring and killing people as he coaches the soprano, Christine Daae. Yes, that was my run-on sentence summary of the story; too bad, that's all I've got at the moment. Anyway, a more interesting and historically significant note about the show, it became the longest-running Broadway show in 2006, with its 10,000th show on Broadway occurring in 2012 ("Andrew Lloyd Webber, n.d.). About the Lyrics: In the show, the song, "Masquerade," is performed at, yes, a masquerade ball. You can watch a version of it performed here: Masquerade on Stage. You can also check out the lyrics here: Masquerade Lyrics. The first few chorus lines, "Masquerade, paper faces on parade. Masquerade, hide your face so the world will never find you" are also performed by the Phantom in his sorrow at the end of the performance when he decides to let his muse, love, and stalker victim (riiiight?) go free with her love interest, Raoul. You can see that scene here: Phantom of the Opera: Final Scene. Note: The Phantom sings the actual lines from "Masquerade" at about 11:00 minutes. However, feel free to watch the whole scene for added emotion. The Ink: "Masquerade, hide your face so the world will never find you." I chose this line because I feel it really does remind me of me. All of my life, I have lived in the shadow of my own perfectionism. I wore an emotional mask to hide the depression and anger that lived within me. This mask helped me to cope with the outside world, a world that I felt compelled to constantly please with whatever skills or talents I possessed to feel accepted. Eventually, the mask did me no good, and I fell off of the cliff of demise built by my own desire to be everything and anything to everyone else, losing myself in the process. Now, the mask is more frequently off, and I am able to deal with the ones I choose to wear, the world must deal with the real monster that is ME. :) This line from "Masquerade" illustrates how I see myself in life. I used to see wearing a mask as a bad thing, but in a sense, we all adapt ourselves to a certain degree depending on the situation we're in at the moment. By getting inked with these lyrics, I do not intend to perpetuate the notion of hiding behind my own masks, but serves as a reminder that in the end, it's all about being who you are, whether you're wearing an emotional/social mask or not. Each one of us has a collection of these masks: we all throw on the employee mask, the significant other mask, the friend mask, the parent mask, the teacher mask from time to time. For me, it's a matter of knowing what mask I'm wearing at the time and what the consequences (good and bad) are for doing so. The be-yourself mask is best, in my opinion, but easier said than done, for many. Gianluca Who I am: I was born in 1983 in a small town in the Tuscan Maremma, Cinigiano (Grosseto) and since I was young grew up with a passion for drawing and art. During adolescence I come into contact with the world of tattoos from older friends and I remain absolutely fascinated. I began to approach this reality and in a completely self-taught way I started to do the first experiments, after Medical Bbp , first on my skin and then on that of my friends. In 2006 after years of work and sacrifices and saving money, I decided to realize this passion and I leave for Thailand where I attend an international traditional tattoo school, directed by the teacher Khantima Aranjolovic. After some experience of apprenticeship and having obtained the professional qualification, in 2008 the Matrix Draws Tattoo Studio was born in GROSSETO My path is neither special nor special, it is a life of sacrifice, renunciation and disappointment. Who has 30/35 years and lives in Italy constantly undergoes a cultural and artistic impoverishment for other futile interests. I am deeply passionate about art, I filled my “ignorance” with my curiosity and by internet I created my own parallel art school. I am a tattoo artist and this allows me to live with art, in particular it has given me the possibility to improve techniques and knowledge and create my "Bottega" to keep going. Yes, I preferred to create a shop with a small gallery after the thousand disappointments by “best gallerists” thieves of hopes and percentages. A huge step back in to the shop ( Bottega) to enjoy the art as a time conceived, with sweat, technique and satisfactions above all by the smallest customer who helps me to move forward even with € 50 Ich Artwork . I’m repeating , no specific training course, I would like to support by Master or regular school education, so as to be on par with many others. I hope it can serve the self-taught experience. I always found it difficult to understand how it was done, I always tried and tried again until I reached a sort of reading of the techniques. I have always drawn as a child stealing everything possible with my eyes. My work as a tattoo artist allowed me to know and attend workshops / painting courses anywhere in the world. The tattoo industry was putting art into today's society in a historical moment where our artistic heritage is destroyed every day. My favorite painters are artists with whom I collaborated together and following his seminar are: Michael Hussar, David Kassan, Casey Bugh, Markus Lenhard, Valentina Riabova, Guy Atchinson, Shawn Barber, Chris Digwell, Jeff Gougue,HENRIK ULDALEN. What distinguishes me is probably the strength and tenacity that art has given me, has saved my life by taking me away from the bad road. Waking up at night to paint after 12 hours of work as a worker and many other reasons. In summary I would say this: I'm Fascetto Gianluca. Art for me is the physical extension of our mind of our heart and of our soul. We carry an immense baggage of memory ... all that has characterized us in our lives we reproduce it in the form of art. Our works are the product of emotions, colors, images, sounds, smells that in the subconscious that have characterized and shaped us. I am a painter, a tattoo artist but above all an artist! ... who reproduces what has marked him, above another person, a very strong exchange of energy and informations that impress those who tattoo and / or who is tattooed ... .. but inside each DNA THERE ARE MILLION YEARS OF EVOLUTION ....... a galaxy of information. ….million of people. who reproduces all this? Maybe we do not know it ... but art for me is a testament to future people ......................... perhaps in my D.N.A Thanks for the attention. Gianluca
