It Represents : Wisdom, Stealth, Freedom, Vision, Knowledge, Transition, The Afterlife, The Messenger, Independence, Mystery, Secrets, Protection, Intelligence, Intuition, The Supernatural, Nocturnal, Death (Literal or Symbolic) Mythical Representation : In Greek mythology, a little owl (Athene noctua) traditionally represents or accompanies Athena, the goddess of wisdom, or Minerva, her syncretic incarnation in Roman mythology. Connected with the goddess Athena, the owl tattoo can represent a degree of holiness, or godlike qualities. The connotations can be linked to many mystical and endearing qualities. The Egyptians, Hindus, and Celtics, regard the owl as an intelligent, wise, and complicated creature. It does also represent a very dark side. Considered the symbol of death in many cultures, the owl has an association as the guardian and protector of the dead. Referred to as the “Angel of Death”, many people believe that the owl has the ability to communicate with those who have long since passed on. The Mechanical Bubo tattoo represents both a great search and a complicated struggle to find myself, the clock states my time of birth and we all humans are mechanical by daily routine. Owls are the nocturnal creatures of mystery and mysticism as they come out in the dark, related with knowledge, wisdom and vision.
