It is a semi colon for mental illness, depression, and suicide awareness. Like in a sentence, a semi colon is used to continue it, so use that as a metaphor for life, I could have chosen to end it but kept on going...This lovely lotus and dragon fly are on my left upper arm. Did you know that lotus come from the bottom of the water and made of mud, and other unpleasant things. I thought that it was cool that something that starts out ugly could become something so beautiful. Kinda thought of it as a metaphor for life. Daffodils symbolize rebirth and new beginnings. Emphasizing the bow and arrow metaphor. The nautical star represents adventure. It also is a nod to Texas, where my star-crossed-lover lives. This piece is a double entendre. A reminder that my struggles in life will make me stronger and lead me to more adventures and success. Secondly, the unique and complicated relationship my lover and I have is not without its many challenges but we must always stay strong and aim for each other. Our biggest expression of our love is "we were made from the same star." Even if, we miss our shot, he has changed my life and allowed my true self to emerge.
